Our Pre Prep after school activities are exciting and varied, updated every half term. They are arranged to offer something for everyone in Little Lockers and include an element of sport, craft and wellbeing.
With the exception of Beavers and some of the sports activities requiring external coaches, there’s no need to sign your son up to specific activities. Everything is on tap and accessible to one and all, either during the school day or as part of our optional Pre Prep wraparound care.
Sample Pre Prep After School Activities
Here is a sample of our Pre Prep after school activities for the spring term:
- Monday: Yoga and Beavers
- Tuesday: Dance Club
- Wednesday: Art Club
- Thursday: Fencing and Squash Club
- Friday: Mindfulness colouring
Beavers at Lockers Park
Lockers Park is proud to have its own 7th Hemel Hempstead Scouting Group. This extends to the older members of Little Lockers with the 7th Hemel Hempstead Beavers. This is a great help to busy Lockers Park parents whose sons can experience Beavers as part of our wraparound care.
Beavers, Cubs and Scouts continue to have relevance to children and young people for many reasons, including:
- Life skills: Beavers continues to give children something that screens do not offer: practical, hands-on learning, teamwork, problem-solving, communication and resilience.
- Outdoor experiences: With more children spending a record amount of time on screens, Beavers provides structured access to nature: camping, den-building, hiking and outdoor games.
- Community and belonging: Sometimes our sense of community can feel fragmented. Beavers offers a strong local network of friendship and shared purpose.
- Updated scouting values: The new Beavers programme reflects new values such as STEM, sustainability and creativity. It has flexible uniforms and inclusive activities.
- Complements education: Teachers often notice that Beavers are confident and better at working in groups, more independent and better organised.
Combined with the other Pre Prep after school activities experienced at Little Lockers, your son will be busy and fulfilled for as much time as you wish after the core day.
