Supporting Jeans for Genes Day

Posted: 18th September 2020

There’s been a buzz of excitement and energy around school today, as our pupils and staff swapped their usual attire for jeans! We joined in a gene-ius nationwide initiative organised by the charity Genetic Disorders UK: Jeans for Genes Day.

As part of the day, we learned how genes can affect a child’s senses, movement, ability to learn or affect their appearance. We hope to raise over £350.

Did you know genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children 14 years and under? Jeans for Genes aims to fund vital care and support services for the half a million children in the UK that face the daily challenges of a genetic disorder. By asking us all to simply pull on a pair of jeans, the initiative provides grants to organisations for projects, day-to-day support, equipment, respite and events that bring together affected children and their families.

Our Headmaster, Christopher Wilson says: “2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the Jeans for Genes Day, a campaign we have supported for a number of years. We welcome everyone’s generous donations and getting behind this really worthwhile cause.”
