Choosing a single-sex school is a decision families often consider carefully. It is entirely reasonable to ask what this type of education changes in practice, and whether it will help a particular child to learn, develop and feel at home.
At Lockers Park, single-sex education is not simply a matter of teaching boys separately. It means creating an environment designed around how boys learn, rather than asking them to adapt to one that was not shaped with them in mind.
Across the classroom, the wider curriculum and daily school life, boys are encouraged to move, question, contribute and try something unfamiliar. They are known as individuals and supported as they develop their own interests and strengths.
This does not mean limiting their experience. It means giving boys the space to explore it with confidence. Set in 23 acres in Hertfordshire, close to Hemel Hempstead, we are one of a small number of single-sex schools in the county where every part of the day is shaped around boys.
