Admissions

Our Admissions application process begins with a series of simple steps to start your Lockers Park journey.

We offer a range of ways to visit our school, from Open Days and special events, to Reception Taster sessions, individual visits, and Taster Days.

Reception

1.  Visit our School

Our Open Days take place regularly throughout the year and are open to families interested in Reception places. Our Open Days are an excellent opportunity to see the whole school in action and to better understand how our boys progress from Pre Prep through the Prep School to Year 8.

2. Reception Taster Session

If you would like to find out more about life in our Pre Prep, you can also visit us for a Reception Taster session where your son will have the opportunity to join our Reception class for a fun activity and play time, while you enjoy a coffee with our Reception Teacher and Headmaster in the same location (you’re welcome to take part in the activity, too!)

3. Nursery Report

We will then ask you to request a report from your child’s nursery. After this, we can let you know if we’re able to offer a place. We typically have upwards of 40 families looking for a place in our Reception class of no more than 16 boys so we encourage families to contact us as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Years 1 to 8

1. Visit our Prep School

A Personal Tour or coming to an Open Morning is a wonderful way for you to tell our Headmaster about your son and to see Lockers Park for yourself. Our Open Mornings are a good opportunity to get an overview of the school by meeting our pupils, seeing our classes in action, and speaking with our Headmaster and teachers. The personal tour is a dedicated time to discuss your son and family with our Headmaster. You are welcome to choose one or both of these options, and are welcome to bring your son along too.

Book your personal tour here and find out about our next Open Morning here.

2. Prep School Taster Day

We will then invite your son to join us for a Taster Day, which we aim to make as fun and welcoming as possible. The Taster Day offers your son the chance to experience a normal school day at Lockers Park with his current year group. He will do all the lessons that his new class do on that day which may include academic lessons, Forest School, Sport, Drama, Music, Art or any of the other subjects we teach. During the day we will assess your child’s academic performance. The purposes of the test are to ensure that your son will cope with all that we have to offer, and to identify pupils who may need extra support, some stretching or an alternative teaching approach to achieve their potential. Our main aim to make sure your son will be happy at Lockers Park and will thrive in our unique environment.

We offer the opportunity for a taster boarding night for families interested in flexi or full boarding.

3. School Report and Other Relevant Information

We ask to review your child’s most recent school report prior to any visit or taster day. Please do share any relevant information with us that will help in the admissions process. It is important that we are aware of any educational or other requirements so we can ensure we are the right place for your son. Sharing this information with us will only benefit the choices you make – we approach each boy on his own individual merits.

4. Offer and Acceptance

After your son’s Taster Day, we will let you know if we can offer him a place as soon as possible. If we can offer him a place, we will ask you to fill in our Acceptance Form and pay our Acceptance Deposit of £1,000 (£2,000 if overseas), and look forward to the day when your child will start at Lockers Park.

5. New Boys Day

We invite our new pupils to join us for our New Boys Day in June. This is a wonderful opportunity for your son to meet his peers and form tutor.

Overseas Families

1. Video Interview

It’s not a problem if you are unable to visit us in person. We can offer you a 30 minute video meeting with our Headmaster which would include you as the parents, and your son.

Mr Taylor would like to learn about your son and what’s important in his education, and will introduce you to Lockers Park. Book your video meeting here.

2. School Report and Other Relevant Information

We will ask you to send us your son’s most recent school report. Please do share any relevant information with us that will help in the admissions process. It is important that we are aware of any educational or other requirements so we can ensure we are the right place for your son. Sharing this information with us will only benefit the choices you make – we approach each boy on his own individual merits.

3. Online Admissions Tests

After registering your son, we will offer him our admission tests which he can sit online, at home or independently.

4. Visa Support

Lockers Park has a UKVI Child Student Visa Sponsor Licence and we are able to support your son with a Child Student Visa application if needed.

Moving Up from our Pre-Prep to our Prep School

Boys who start in our Pre Prep will be assessed prior to joining our Prep School in Year 3 to ensure that Lockers Park is still the best school for them.
