Chris was happily volunteered for the Chair role in 2012, by his son’s housemaster at Rugby School. He chairs the Board and the Remuneration Committee and serves Health & Safety and F&GP Committees. With a desire to meld the most endearing traditions with best practice and forward thinking, Chris is focused on leadership, governance and supporting the Lockers Park management team.
Married to Valerie with a son and daughter who took the private education route including boarding, he has a life-long interest in education, training and development.
Chris owns a manufacturing engineering business where his passion for design and innovation, solving problems and management have driven him completely mad – at times. Prior to this, during his corporate years in construction, manufacturing, the motor industry, capital goods and service businesses, his career took him beyond the UK into Japan, Middle East, Europe and the US with board positions for 40 years in sales, marketing, operations, finance and general management.
A first degree in Civil Engineering included lateral thinking as a core subject, his second degree, an MBA, included core subjects of entrepreneurship, strategy and analysis. He is a change merchant and makes no secret of continuously improving whatever he takes on.
He is a UK British Standards Industry expert and chairs one of its committees, is a member of several additional committees and in addition, with an active involvement in ESG.
Doug is a Lockers Park Old Boy who attended the school in the early 1960s, during which time his favourite memories include developing a lifelong enthusiasm for art, learning to play squash which continued for a further 50 years and friendly birthday parties in the dining hall! He went on to Repton School and then graduated with degrees from UC Berkeley and Columbia.
In his early career, he occupied positions in marketing and sales with Bass Brewers, before transferring to educational development in the 1990s. He established the Milestones Campaign at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and then was appointed Director of the Harrow Development Trust in 1998. The vast sums he has raised for Harrow School have transformed the facilities and opportunities available to the pupils, not least in building funds for pupils whose backgrounds mean they face significant barriers to progress.
Doug served as a Lockers Park Governor from the early 2000s to 2019 contributing widely on a number of committees. He also supervised fundraising for Lockers Park, which led to the construction of the technology wing, improvements for boarders and facilities for all boys generally. He now serves in an advisory capacity as a Patron of the School.
Oliver joined the Lockers Park governing body in 2016. He chairs the Remuneration, Governance & Nominations Committee and also sits on the Education Committee. Oliver is the nominated safeguarding Governor.
His two sons both flourished as pupils at Lockers Park; they were provided a firm foundation for their senior school, Eton College. These days, his boys can no longer be convinced to accept “slate” (the small slate chips that are currency in the Lockers Park Shrubs at break time) instead of an allowance.
Oliver read Law and Politics at Nottingham University. Shortly after qualification in England, he moved to New Zealand where he worked for three years and also qualified as a lawyer. Oliver is a Partner with international law firm Fieldfisher LLP, specialising in finance transactions.
Kirsty gained a First Class degree in Sport at the University of Birmingham, where, as Captain, she lead the 1st Lacrosse Team to the final of the British Universities and Colleges Sport Championship. Kirsty trained as a Games and PE teacher, gaining a PGCE and a Masters of Education.
She began her teaching career at Wycombe Abbey School, where she was recognised as Coach of the Year in 2015, following her team’s winning success at the U19 1st Team National Lacrosse Championships. Her love of the sport saw her play Lacrosse for England U21 and Senior England, and coach at junior county, regional and England level.
In 2016 Kirsty was appointed at St Albans High School as the Director of Sport and in 2020 was promoted to Assistant Head.
Kirsty regularly volunteers for the homelessness charity Shelter, and is a keen traveller.
