On 5th January 2026, the Boards and Governors of Harrow School and Lockers Park School announced that they were to enter a new phase in their long-term relationship, providing an enriched learning environment for boys aged 4 to 18.
This will see Lockers Park School formally partner with the Keepers and Governors of the Possession, Revenues and Goods of the Free Grammar School of John Lyon, within the town of Harrow-on-the Hill, which is the Royal Charter charitable entity, or the Corporation, which comprises Harrow School and John Lyon School.
For the 150 years of Lockers Park’s history, Harrow School and Lockers Park School have enjoyed strong links and a close working relationship. Our two schools have long shared values, academic vision and approach, with an emphasis on providing an unparalleled holistic education for boys at prep and senior school level.

This move has been values-driven and together we will create a platform for academic excellence that supports our parents and pupils. In doing so, we will also support character development of boys, so they thrive during their academic careers and beyond.
Harrow School and Lockers Park School are both in a strong position and our Boards and Governors are excited by the long-term opportunities in the sector, and in particular, in working more closely together.
Our combined teaching, pastoral and support staff will collaborate in a collegiate spirit to offer these benefits to all including;
- sharing educational, academic and pastoral expertise
- bringing together the best of our respective co-curriculum offers
- sharing investments in technology and know-how
- strengthening our offer to parents and pupils with the resources and skills of a larger school group
- supporting parents and pupils on the education journey from prep school to senior school and beyond.
Both Boards and Governors are enthused by the scope for senior management teams to share know how, insight and experience but there is an equal focus on ensuring that the unique character of each school endures. Harrow School and Lockers Park School will each maintain their separate and distinctive identity and character, building on the best of each school’s different rich history and heritage. Lockers Park School will continue to operate as it does today, remaining on its existing site in Hemel Hempstead and retaining its current branding and uniform.
Harrow School and Lockers Park School will also continue to work with a broader community and network of schools.
Alastair Land, Head Master at Harrow School explained: ‘We are delighted to welcome Lockers Park into the Harrow family. Together we will build on the strengths of our like-minded institutions while maintaining our separate and distinctive identity and character, building on the best of each school’s different rich history and heritage. This move will allow us to share expertise and know-how and strengthen our offering with the resources and skills of a larger school group. We are very much looking forward to deepening the close ties that have connected us over the past 150 years.
Gavin Taylor, Head Master at Lockers Park School commented: ‘Joining Harrow School represents a positive and carefully considered step in the long-term future of Lockers Park School. It brings together two schools with shared values and a commitment to character, scholarship and opportunity. Lockers Park School will remain true to its distinctive ethos: purposefully small, values-led and focused on the formative education of boys. This partnership strengthens our foundations, supports our staff, and provides greater clarity and opportunity for our pupils as they progress beyond Lockers Park School. I am proud of our community and excited about the next chapter of the school’s story’.
