Drama forms a key part of the Lockers Park curriculum and the enriching culture of our school with drama lessons, school plays and optional LAMDA training on offer for all our boys.
Lessons in drama form part of the core curriculum, encouraging confidence and excellent skills in oracy. We believe in the importance of all boys having the chance to build on their performance skills within lesson time.
Every year, we put on a Junior and a Senior Play with the Junior Play taking place at the end of the Autumn term and the Senior Play at the end of the Summer term. These performances are of a high standard and often include musical pieces. In some cases they are full musicals and this enables the strong musical culture at Lockers Park to combine with our drama department. All boys are expected to participate in some form, whether they are performing, working as part of the musical team or assisting with the production.
In the last few years, our Junior Plays have included The Adventures of Superstan and Troy Story and Senior Plays have included Joseph! and Bugsy Malone.
We hold LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) lessons and exams on site. LAMDA training provides exceptional training, not just for budding actors, but for everyone who wants to speak and present with confidence.
LAMDA exams require the student to answer questions on their performances and to walk confidently into the exam room as well as delivering their pieces. This is excellent training for interviews for senior school and beyond.
