Dedicated to academic excellence and opportunity, since Lockers Park was founded in 1874, we’ve been a purposefully small prep school. This enables us to truly know your son and support his development both academically and in the huge range of opportunities beyond the classroom.
We aim to be the greatest boys only, non-selective independent school in England, providing academic excellence, individual bespoke care and abundant opportunity. You can read more about our vision and values here.
Every teacher and member of staff, from matrons, to cooks, to pupils of all ages, will know your son and help him to make the most of his full and active school life. Lockers Park is a place of pastoral care excellence, where family spirit, camaraderie and kindness thrive.
Academic Excellence and Opportunity
Learning at Lockers Park is supported by a strong foundational curriculum, combined with critical thinking lessons, interactive teaching techniques and optional Saturday school. Our use of aptitude tests from Year 3 means that by Year 6, our boys are ready for ISEB Common Pre-tests and any other similar assessments that they need to take.
For boys in Years 7-8, their focus moves to the ISEB Common Entrance exam, a pre-requisite of many UK senior schools. Our Year 8 boys leave Lockers Park for their chosen destination senior schools with a strong set of social skills, enthusiasm and confidence.
A Wide Range of Activities
We offer excellent sport alongside a vibrant outdoor life which includes playing in the shrubs and enjoying our extensive grounds at break time.
Boys are encouraged to learn musical instruments and to participate in choirs, musical groups and performances. There are rich art and drama opportunities and activities and clubs galore.
Building life skills, confidence and resilience, our boys benefit from a packed day with many choosing to flexi-board and stay the night. This gives them the opportunity to do prep in school and enjoy evening events such as film nights – or unique Lockers Park traditions such as The Dark Tower. More about our activities here.
Boarding Culture
Our culture as a boarding school is enjoyed by boarders and day boys alike. The extensive activities either side of lessons make for a fun and stimulating environment. Boys from the UK and overseas get to know each other and understand each other’s culture. Boarding experience, whether full-time, weekly or flexi-boarding, is highly valued by prominent UK senior schools and develops independence and confidence in boys progressing to day schools too.
