Welcome to Lockers Park

We’re proud of our pupils’ academic success and the abundant opportunities they enjoy. Nestled in 23 acres of Hertfordshire woodland in Boxmoor, we welcome boys aged 4 to 13 years from St Albans, Harpenden, Berkhamsted, Tring and the surrounding villages.

Academic Excellence

At Lockers Park we know that allowing boys to be themselves, comfortable and happy within their school environment, encourages them to gain confidence and flourish academically.

Critical to our success is developing the boys’ metacognition (learning to learn), giving them the tools to make the most of their education and take forward onto the next part of their education.

Purposefully small

At Lockers Park we know that allowing boys to be themselves, comfortable and happy within their school environment, encourages them to gain confidence and flourish academically.

That’s why we keep our class sizes purposefully small, to nurture our boys’ talents allowing individualised, focused attention to ensure every boy becomes a confident learner.

Enthusiasm for life

We place huge emphasis on educating the whole child. An excellent academic education is a given, but a Lockers Park education is about so much more.

Providing our boys with abundant opportunities beyond the classroom develops confidence, independence and breadth of interest. Pupils’ energies and passions are supported from the get-go by dynamic, tireless staff. Whether it’s Sports, Science & Technology, Music, Art, Drama, Cubs and Scouts, or Chess and Debating, pupils can enrich and broaden their knowledge and life experiences in so many ways.

Testimonials

“There is a great balance between the academic side and extra-curricular activities. We have found the music and language teaching to be excellent.”

“My sons do–and will always–hold Lockers Park close to their hearts. As parents, we feel, we have made the greatest decision of our lives sending our children there.”

“We love the amount of outdoor play time and the freedom the children have to explore the grounds.”

“The school brings out the best in each child, respecting their individuality. Children come first at Lockers Park.”

“We have been so impressed with Lockers Park; it is a truly amazing school. All the boys are happy, content and encouraged to be the best version on themselves”

“The school feels intimate and the average class size is 12-16, so no question here of the staff and Head being hardwired into the needs and strengths of each pupil.”

“Everything about the school is focused on bringing out the best in boys – from the 40-minute morning break where they can tear around fields and woodlands with just enough time for a bit of den-building, to the pristine well-structured classrooms.”

“Newer additions – including critical thinking, ethics, entrepreneurship and a focus on the arts – prepare the boys for success in the modern world (and helped 20 per cent bag scholarships last year). Day boys gladly stay late to enjoy myriad activities and supper with friends, while parents rejoice at the wraparound care – which is included in the fees.”

“This highly regarded boys’ prep strikes the perfect balance between tradition and innovation. Kinaesthetic learning, daily sport for all, an emphasis on good manners, and ‘allowing boys to be boys’ remain pillars of a Lockers Park education.”

“The instinctive support that pupils provide for one another as well as their thirst, enthusiasm and energy for life and learning is a significant strength of the school.”

“My son joined Lockers Park after having been at a larger school. Thank you to Lockers for giving me my son back. Lockers Park is a slice of magic.”

“Pupils’ thirst, enthusiasm and energy for life and learning is a significant strength of the school.”

“The school gives a well-rounded education that allows time for extra-curricular pursuits – both formal (music, art, drama, sport) and informal (time in the shrubs!).”
